Happy New Year to Everyone from The Deafening Colors! We couldn't be more excited to announce the forthcoming release of our new album, RUN PASS OPTION on 1-29-19. Streaming, listening, and purchase details are to come over the course of the next few weeks. For now, here are a few notes about the album: At some moments and in a multitude of manners, 2018 was a turbulent year for (one of) us. At the same time, taken in totality, 2018 was as productive as we've been in ages. Th
It's true: For the first time in three years, we have new music for you. Download or stream "She Moved to Oklahoma" now from our Bandcamp site. On Sunday, it should be up on additional listening platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.). This advance single also appears on our forthcoming record, Suburban Divine, to be released this coming Fall. As always, if you like what you hear, please tell your friends. A mention, or better, a link to the actual song on your preferred socia
Hey listeners! Happy Thanksgiving! We have started recording our followup to Carousel Season. We will post some more details when we have them for you, but in the meantime you'll have to trust us - we think it's going to be special. After a few tracks here or some demos there in the time since the summer of 2015, we hit a groove last week and the body of work is growing. There's definitely an ethos about it, if not a concrete theme quite yet, per se. Still early, after all. T
It's been awhile since we've written you, so we'll start strong - we wanted to share something we recently recorded with you. That something is this:

If you've been following us for a long time, you'll know that we released a version of this song on our album Upstairs. This is our way of saying thanks for the five years of The Deafening Colors since then.
Yes, that's right, it's been FIVE years since we

Thanks to all who came to see us the other night at Arlene's Grocery in NYC! It was a blast - they always have great sound, a good vibe, and nice people. It didn't hurt that we were playing alongside The Danbees, who we love to play alongside. Cris from TDC is Danbees front-man Mark's brother, so shows with the two of us are always a fun family affair. When are we playing next? We'll have a few words on just that in the very, very near future. Stay tuned! #arlenesgrocery #the

We hope you have had a chance to see our new music video for Parkway South. For those who do not know: we held a contest over the first half of 2016 in which we asked aspiring filmmakers from across the globe to make a video for either "Mary-Anne" or "Parkway South," and the results were all unbelievably awesome. One entry, though, set itself apart from all others immediately. All the way from Australia, the *WINNER* of our music video contest is DavidWL! He made this video f
We held a pretty straightforward contest for aspiring filmmakers: make a video for "Parkway South" or "Mary-Anne," and from this contest, several lessons became abundantly clear to us: 1) We (John, Gerard, Cris, and Mikey) have no business making music videos. We'll keep it to writing, recording, playing, acting, singing, etc. 2) The ideas that go through the heads of people who listen to our music are infinitely more interesting than we could have even imagined. 3) It's abou
